Compact Growth for Planted Aquariums

Unlike many traditional stem plants, Staurogyne repens tends to remain relatively low and develops horizontal shoots from around the base of the plant.

How to Plant Staurogyne Repens Tissue Culture

Remove the plant carefully from the tissue culture cup and rinse away any remaining growing gel with clean aquarium water.

Separate the plant into several small portions and plant each section individually into the substrate using aquascaping tweezers. Leaving a small amount of space between each portion allows the plants to establish and spread naturally.

Longer upright stems can be trimmed after planting to encourage lower, bushier growth.

Growing Staurogyne Repens

Staurogyne repens can grow without injected CO₂, making it suitable for many planted community aquariums. However, additional CO₂, suitable lighting and regular fertilisation generally produce faster, denser growth.

A nutrient-rich aquarium substrate or regular root and water-column fertilisation can help maintain healthy green foliage.

Trim taller shoots when required to encourage the plant to remain compact and spread sideways through the aquarium.
