pH - kH 7.0 sets aquarium pH to approximately neutral (7) and kH to approximately 7 degrees of carbonate hardness. Both pH and kH are very important to aquarium stability. kH is the measure of carbonates that are continually consumed by the aquarium biology. pH (the potential of hydrogen) has a direct bearing on the toxicity of ammonia produced by fish. A pH of 7 neutralises toxic ammonia if present.
